Universal Studios Resort
Universal Studios Resort Orlando is comprised of two theme parks, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventures, three resort hotels and Citywalk, an area dedicated to eating and nightlife. Universal Studios opened in 1990 and Islands of Adventure opened in 1999.
Universal Studios Florida is a complete resort destination. The area is home to both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure as well as three AAA Four Diamond hotels and Citywalk, an area dedicated to dining and nightlife. When staying at a Universal Resort you will enjoy all of the perks of being onsite.
The resort area is home to more than 50 restaurants including an Emeril's Orlando Restaurant (at Universal Citywalk) and Emeril's Tchoup Chop at Loew's Royal Pacific Resort. At Citywalk there are nine sit-down restaurants plus a food court. Each hotels offers at least one sit down restaurant and several more casual dining options. Staying on-site means all of the restaurants are easily accessed with complimentary transportation.
Universal Studios is comprised of six themed areas including Hollywood, Woody Woodpecker's Kids Zone, San Francisco/Amity, World Expo, Production Central and New York. Highlights include Shrek 4-D, The Simpsons Ride and Revenge of the Mummy. For younger visitors the Woody Woodpecker's Kids Zone and Curious George Goes to Town are perfect. In the same section of the park is a stageshow with Barney.
If you have a thrill seeker in your family you won't want to miss Islands of Adventure. The park is an adrenaline junkie paradise. For roller coaster fans the park is home to The Incredible Hulk Coaster, Dragon Challenge and Doctor Doom's Fearfall. If you have young children in your party you won't want to miss Suess Landing, where you'll enter the world of Dr. Seuss. During the winter months this area is transformed into the Who Village from "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." You can celebrate with the Who's and even have breakfast with the Grinch.
Perhaps you've heard? In the summer of 2010 Islands of Adventure opened the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The new area of the park will transport you into the world of Harry, Hermoine and Dumbledore. You can walk through Hogwarts Castle, visit the shops of Hogsmeade and ride Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. The books will come to life in ways you never imagined.
Universal Orlando is a great choice for Orlando visitors. It's three hotels are all magnificent (and often run specials) and the parks offer something for everyone.
