I'm going to list them, in order of preference, and none of them were bad. We just enjoyed some more than others.
4. Cinderella's Royal Table: We loved eating here. But if you read my previous blog entry about this place, it was our first meal of the trip and my daughter wasn't terribly interested in the princesses. Which is the only reason that this place rated lower. Okay, maybe that and it requires two meals credits, even for breakfast. The breakfast starts with a plate of pastry and a bowl of fruit. My daughter was also given a wand and a wishing star. We loved the wishing star ceremony and how happy the wand made my daughter. For breakfast there are several menu options. You can choose from a healthy breakfast, a traditional eggs and bacon platter or a stuffed french toast. My dad chose the traditional breakfast, there was plenty and my mom and I had the stuffed french toast. YUN! Serious yum! Deep fried french toast stuffed with creak cheese. It set the tone for the week of gluttony that was about to come. We were visited by each princess and each one took her time with my daughter, even though my daughter had a runny nose and was not terribly excited. We were in and out in an hour but we loved it. We were in the park by 9:00 am and rode everything in Fantasyland with no wait, which made this breakfast worth every penny. We loved this breakfast and eating in the castle was an experience. How many times are you going to do that? (Okay, we'll probably do it again ;)
3. Donald's Safari Breakfast: We ate here on an early entry morning in Animal Kingdom. We got to the park right at opening at 8:00 and toured for two hours before heading over for breakfast. This was perfect. My daughter needed a break two hours in and so did all the adults. (Did I mention Orlando was experiencing record cold so we all really needed to warm up at this point?) That's the thing about Animal Kingdom, people always say it feels hotter but to us it was colder than everywhere else. We loved this breakfast too. It was buffet style and had a good variety. Everything was hot and tasty. We all had Mickey waffles and the standard breakfast fare. Characters were great. This was our third character meal in three days and my two year old was starting to get the hang of it. Somehow the pictures have disappeared but I know that we got pictures with all of the characters. Again, this breakfast was great, we had no complaints. We got cupcakes from the Kusafiri bakery later in the day for a snack and didn't really need too. But we loved having the break a few hours in and having a hot meal at a table with a waiter. Seriously, a great meal it's just we LOVED the other two meals so much...
2. Cape May Cafe: Our reservation for Cape May was early because that was all I could get. It was one of the nicest buffet selections I have seen. It's also where I learned about Carbon's Golden Malted. (Mickey Waffle Mix) My parents would have rated this character meal as their favorite and honestly, it probably was the best food and selection wise but my daughter had a vote too... Now, I noted Addie's birthday on all of our reservations but so far, at all our breakfasts no one did anything special. But at Cape May Goofy brought her a cupcake and sang to her. She was in heaven. We tried to get back here during the week but our itinerary was all screwy because of the weather. This is the only character breakfast my mom requested again when for our upcoming trip.
1. Play and Dine at Hollywood & Vine:
Okay, so this is tough. Addie LOVED Hollywood & Vine. I loved watching her play, dance and sing at breakfast. The food was maybe not the greatest, but it was good. Very good. Again, we all had a variety of fruit, mickey waffles, eggs and bacon. There wasn't anything out of the ordinary here. I think my mom had an omelet? But that's not the point. Hollywood and Vine is unique because the characters play with the kids. The characters are from Disney Junior (formerly Playhouse Disney) shows. My daughter loves Little Einsteins. She gets to watch an episode every night before bed and she can sing the theme song. So, when June and Leo showed up at breakfast I thought she was going to burst. In addition Handy Manny and Special Agent Oso were there. Addie likes both of them but her little heart belongs to those Little Einsteins. The restaurant has the characters rotate around the tables and every fifteen minutes a cast member takes the mic and leads the kids in a dance and song. At one point the kids were having a parade around the restaurant. Addie is pretty active and having to stay still is hard for her. So for her to be able to DANCE with the characters was a real treat. Special. One of those moments when as a parent your heart melts and you know you'll remember the breakfast forever, even if she doesn't. The shocking thing about this breakfast? It was easy to get, openings all the time. People pan it but it was th best breakfast we were at all week. I can't wait to go back and I'm sure Addie can't either.
So really, not a bad meal in the bunch! Loved having a late breakfast after touring for awhile, especially with a two year old. I'm going to remember watching her dance with June next time she colors on my coffee table, I promise.
